Ivan F. Shteyner

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Specialization: Philology, Faculty of Philology, Gomel State Institute. Candidate of Philological Sciences, 1982. Doctor of Philology, 1994, Professor (1995).

Was born on September 10, 1953 in the village of Gentle Stolin district, Brest region. He graduated from the Philology Department of the Belarusian State University in 1975. He worked as a school principal, guidance counselor Regional Institute of Teachers.
Since 1978 - in the Gomel State University named Skarina. Defended his Ph.D. (1982) and doctorate (1994) thesis on the history and theory of poetic ballads and Slavic relationships. Since 1983 - Head of the Belarusian literature. In 1995 received the title of professor, in the same year was elected a corresponding member of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences.

Ivan Steiner - widely known researcher of history and theory of literature, literary critic, kamparatyvist, local historian. He has more than 200 scientific papers, of which more than 20 monographs and collective collections, 4 manuals, 1 manual approved by the Ministry of Education. Twenty-five years is the chief editor of the scientific book "The Belarusian literature."
Recently, exceptional attention to understanding and reflection of the current state and prospects of the spiritual life of the region of Gomel. Under his leadership and with the direct participation of the prepared series of books on culture Mozyr Svetlogorsk Rechitsa (last - to the National Festival "Dozhinki").
Over 25 years I.F.Shteyner headed research and teaching school, "Regional, national and universal level in literature and folklore: the spiritual heritage of the Belarusians in the global context." Department of the Belarusian literature led I.F.Shteynera became a spiritual center of the city and the region.
