The department has seven teachers, among them - one Ph.D. and 4 candidate of philological sciences.
Department of the Belarusian culture was established in September 1993 as a result of reorganization department of ethics, aesthetics, and cultural history. Headed the Department PhD, Associate Professor Dmitri Pavlovets.
In April 2007, at the Department of the Belarusian culture was a department of the Belarusian culture and folklore. Promising areas of research of the department are: the study of the history and culture of the Gomel region of Gomel-born contribution to the development of national and world science, the study of regional and local folklore of Gomel, Gomel-Bryansk-Chernigov borderland, interoperability issues, multi-ethnic folk traditions, participate in events dedicated to the study of National Heritage (held district departments of culture).
Future research directions of the Department:
- study of the history and culture of the Gomel region of Gomel-born contribution to the development of national and world science;
- regional and local folklore study of Gomel, Gomel-Bryansk-Chernihiv frontier;
- problems of interaction between multi-ethnic folk traditions.
